Al-Mutamid music festival

news: Al-Mutamid music festival

The 13th Al-Mutamid Music Festival is taking place in January and February in Lagoa, Loulé, Lagos and Silves.

Born in Algeria, artist Nadia Baroud has a place among the greatest stars of Kabyle music.

Following a magnificent career in her own country, she achieved recognition in France and Spain, where she left her mark. Nadia Baroud presents a more intimate performance, focusing on traditional Kabyle music, from the Bedouins and the Berbers of what is now Algeria, which is very rhythmically rich. She will be accompanied on stage by a dancer performing Kabyle and eastern dancing.

Nadia Baroud & Kabyle Ensemble will be performing at the Lagoa Auditorium on January 25 at 9.30pm. The following day, the artists will be taking to the stage at the Loulé Cine-Theatre, also at 9.30pm.

Next month, the Masmudi Kebir Ensemble with artists from Syria and Morocco will be performing music and dance from Maghreb and the Middle East.

Performances will be in Lagoa’s Convento de São José on February 15 at 9.30pm and at the Lagos Cultural Centre on February 16, also at 9.30pm.

The festival will come to a close on February 23 with Music of 3 Cultures at the Silves Teatro Gregório Mascarenhas at 9.30pm.
