STAMA, the syndicate of airport maintenance and aviation workers, has today announced its members will be going on strike during various days in December – with “total paralysation” scheduled for December 22, 23, 29 and 30. The decision was taken at a meeting to discuss payment issues with employing entity Portway. A source has said the syndicate ‘laments’ the path Portway has faced it to take. Strikes will begin on December 9, with workers refusing to work for an hour after clocking on, and two hours before clocking off. This course of action will continue all through the month. A further initiative will see a complete overtime ban, again through the month of December.
