Airline strike update

BRITISH AIRWAYS has announced that negotiations with the Transport and General Workers’ Union (T&G) have resumed and called on unionists to call off the strike action completely.

In a statement, BA Chief Executive, Willie Walsh said: “The T&G has taken a small step forward, but it should now take a proper stride and end the anxiety it is causing for so many of our customers. We have made progress in our negotiations and we do not need the shadow of strike action hanging over us as we seek to make further progress.”

BA has announced that all domestic and European flights on Tuesday, January 30, and Wednesday, January 31, have been cancelled from Gatwick and Heathrow. These cancellations will then be followed by 72-hour walk-outs, beginning on Monday, February 5, and Monday, February 12, unless the deadlock over sickness, pay and staff levels is resolved.

Customers concerned about their travel plans can visit the www.ba.com website or call the airline’s free telephone number in Portugal, 808 200 125.
