Airbus makes emergency landing in Portugal after elderly passenger hit on head by falling shoe

An Airbus flight out of Fuerteventura was diverted to Lisbon for an emergency landing after an elderly passenger was struck in the head by a falling shoe. Seventy-nine year old Hilda Holland had to be stretchered off the Thomas Cook flight and has since declared she will “never fly again”. The shoe hit her “sharply” on the head after a woman passenger in the seat in front opened the overhead locker to remove a cardigan.
