Air Force agrees to ‘free-up airspace’ to help reduce Lisbon airport delays

Portugal’s air traffic control company, NAV Portugal, has announced a new charter of operations with the Air Force for the summer, which “will reduce delays at Lisbon airport and allow for greater optimisation of the infrastructure’s capacity”, says a statement cited this evening by Lusa news agency. “This new operations charter redesigns the airspace, with space being given up for temporary periods in the military areas of Monte Real and Sintra – making a positive contribution to reducing aircraft delays and optimising the capacity of the terminal area and approaches to Lisbon’s Humberto Delgado airport,” promised the statement.
