STUDENTS FROM Algarve University in Faro are organising a special workshop tomorrow (Saturday) to celebrate World Day Against Aids.
Aids Open Day Algarve is being held at the main tent of Circo Dallas, near the council swimming pools complex near the EN125 heading to Olhão. The event starts at 11am and ends around 4pm, after a series of debates and workshops that aim to inform people about Aids and influence them about safer behaviour.
Organised by students from the Communication Science course of the Algarve University, the event is to have a workshop led by doctor Helena Ferreira from the Centro de Aconselhamento e Detecção Precoce da Infecção pelo HIV/Sida (CAD), a regional branch for early detection of HIV/Aids infection and advice.
Organisers will donate part of the income resulting from the tickets to Associação Abraço, a charity association which has been working with children infected with HIV for the last 15 years. The rest of the income will be donated to a prevention project dedicated to the youth community in the region, under the CAD supervision.
