Portuguese secretary of state for foreign business and cooperation, João Gomes Cravinho has pledged one million euros to go to Haiti to help with the immediate problems being faced in the country.
A team of Portuguese aid workers arrived in Haiti on Sunday to give aid to the people on the ground, with medical workers setting up camps at the airport.
Meanwhile it has been revealed that Portuguese citizens have donated 600,000 euros so far for the victims of the earthquake through bank transfers to various charitable organisations.
