AHETA, the Algarve’s Association of Hotels and Tourist Enterprises, will honor the region’s outgoing tourism boss João Fernandes at the association’s auditorium in Faro on July 27 at 5.30pm.
“Considering the collaborative work that Engineer João Fernandes has carried out throughout his terms, contributing to the tourism industry in the Algarve, AHETA deemed it fair and deserving to offer a symbolic tribute,” the association says.

João Fernandes will cease his term as president of the Algarve Tourism Region (RTA) on August 1, being replaced by André Gomes.
