Exports in the agro-food sector are up 9.5% in Portugal, according to figures for the first half of the year. In comparison to last year, the figures for June indicate that there are more Portuguese agro-food enterprises doing business outside of Portugal, in an attempt to counteract the effects of an “internal market crisis”. Jorge Henriques, President of the Federation of Portuguese Agro-Food Industries (FIPA), said that for some companies international sales already represent 20% of invoicing.
