Afternoon sees no significant ‘active’ fire on Portuguese mainland: dampening down continues

This afternoon has seen Civil Protection commander André Fernandes announce that there is no significant active fire underway on the Portuguese mainland, albeit the risk of reignitions remains, and will remain throughout the next few days where temperatures and climatic conditions will be hugely challenging . The balance of damages since last Thursday, when fires started breaking out one by one in the central region and the north is 21 people injured (20 with light injuries, one (a firefighter) seriously injured with an exposed wrist fracture); seven houses damaged by fire, ditto two annexes, and at least 6.300 hectares badly burnt.
