afpop on the road

Members of the community and Algarve businesses came together on May 14 and 15 to take part in a weekend of afpop road shows.

The first road show took place at the Essential Fitness & Spa at Boavista Golf Resort in Lagos on May 14, with guests able to gain free advice on fitness and beauty and also able to speak to local business representatives from Mestre Raposa, Imperius AM, SulCare, GMT 24:7 and members of The Resident Group team.

Congratulations to Brett Hawkins, who was the lucky winner of a special three in one massage at the spa which was provided by the Essential Fitness & Spa in conjunction with The Resident Group.

On Sunday the road show moved on to Carvoeiro Club de Ténis where there was a party feel to the day complete with plenty of wine from Quinta dos Vales, a barbecue and various stalls to appeal to all the family.

Various stalls were available at the open day for guests to browse and buy items.

Demonstrations of some of the activities available at the club, including a Zumba session and Salsa class, entertained the guests while others took a dip in the pool.

Michael Reeve, CEO of afpop, told the Algarve Resident: “The road show programme is important to afpop. We are looking for a variety of venues in different locations and each venue brings its own atmosphere. Both Essential Spa and Carvoeiro Clube de Ténis put a lot of effort into organising the events, as did the companies that worked with us and those people who came along really enjoyed the days.”

He added: “I would like to thank both venues for their support and for helping us to raise the profile of afpop and the organisations that we work with. It is always a pleasure to meet up with our members in relaxed surroundings and we meet many people who have been intending to join but just not getting around to it for whatever reason.

“Taking afpop into the communities is a great way for us to talk to people and this weekend’s road shows were very successful and enjoyable.”
