Another 70 medical professionals – this time doctors at Lisbon/ Almada’s Garcia de Orta A&E department – have presented ‘minutes of excuse of responsibility’, complaining of professional burnout and calling for better conditions in which to treat patients. The number of doctors and nurses who have resorted to ‘excuse of responsibility’ in the last two years has already exceeded 5,500. What it means is that professionals have a valid excuse if anything goes ‘wrong’ in terms of patient care on their watch.
