Serra da Estrela is the best place to go at this time of year. Wherever you are, just drive up and enjoy a perfect family holiday at the highest point of Portugal.
Serra da Estrela has something for all tastes, including dazzling mountain landscapes to be enjoyed. When you are there, take a deep breath of mountain air and discover the wool routes, local villages and castles.
Serra da Estrela also offers an extensive variety of open-air activities. You can try snow or artificial skiing, a ride on a snowmobile, a tennis game, hang-gliding, ultra-light flying or abseiling.
The splendour of this natural scenery makes it Portugal’s only ski resort during the winter months. It is a resort with an increasingly good reputation year after year.
You can also get yourself and your family into hill walking, jeep or horse tours or take a guide to visit the Nature Park. When you get there just grab a Serra da Estrela Nature Park Tourist Map and do the route around the mountain commencing at Lagoa da Torre.
Climb the fabulous watercourses, or try some bird watching if you just want to relax.
