ADOPTING CHILDREN in Portugal will become easier as from June of this year, said the Social Security Minister, Vieira da Silva, last week.
A national adoption database will be up and running as from this summer, which will include information about children available for adoption and parents wishing to adopt. The minister made the comments in Coimbra, after signing a protocol between the government and the University of Coimbra’s Family Rights Centre to set up an Adoption Observatory.
According to the minister, the database will allow access, at a national level, to competent authorities and entities dealing with adoption cases.
