Boavista Golf near Lagos held its second Adega Mayor Tournament on January 28.
The 18 hole competition attracted a field of 72 players.
The day’s winners were, in first place, Tony Lewer with 39 points, second Guy Pilcher-Clayton with 38 points and third Jack Hague, a Boavista junior member who impressed all with his golfing skills.
Another junior member who came to the fore during the tournament was Oliver Nicholas, who won the prize for the Hidden Holes with 15 points.
The Nearest the Pin winner was Barbara Gretton, Philip Hurst won the Men’s Longest Drive and Kerry Purr the Ladies Longest Drive.
They all collected prizes donated by event sponsors Adega Mayor Winery, including a weekend for two at the Hotel Santa Beatriz in Campo Maior, north Alentejo.
Golf Director Rodrigo Ulrich said it had been “a great event with a fantastic atmosphere” and he was pleased to say that Adega Mayor has confirmed sponsorship of next year’s tournament.
As part of the day’s festivities competitors and guests enjoyed a lunch with a prize giving ceremony.
