Retailers’ association ACRAL has announced that it has helped create 38 new companies in the Algarve in the last six months.
In a statement, the association said that seven companies have already been launched, while 13 others are awaiting the green light from the employment institute IEFP or bank authorities and 18 are still in the process of being created.
It’s all part of a new initiative that sees ACRAL providing support to unemployed people who want to start a business, as well as anyone who needs help bringing their ideas to life.
“Our contribution to the fight against unemployment is especially important as sometimes self-employment is the only alternative to remaining jobless,” ACRAL’s new president Álvaro Viegas says.
In a nutshell, ACRAL helps future businesspeople prepare investment plans, and then provides support for two years after the company is launched to guarantee it is successful – all of this free of charge.
The initiative is financed by several government and community-funded programmes.
