With Lisbon mayor Carlos Moedas already saying “it won’t happen until we hear how people feel”, Portugal’s automobile club ACP has succeeded in getting a court injunction to stop the traffic changes voted in by left-wing members of the city council last week. The injunction covers the ‘ban on traffic’ in Avenida de Liberdade at weekends and on Bank Holidays and the reduction in speed limits ‘approved’. Said ACP president Carlos Barbosa: “I am not interested in political wars at the town hall. I am interested in mobility in Lisbon. Decisions cannot be taken due to political wars between the right and left. When there are studies, we will respect them. Without them, these measures cannot be taken”…
