Over €30,000 was raised at ACCA’s ‘Golden Glamour & Glitz Gala’ which was held at the Conrad Algarve hotel in Quinta do Lago on Saturday, November 2.
The event was described as a “night to remember full of gorgeous luxuries” by ACCA president Wanda Crawford, who said she was overwhelmed with the generosity of the guests that allowed ACCA to purchase mobility aids and wheelchairs for children in need.
She was very emotional when she expressed her appeal to help these children, who rely on these mobility aids and wheelchairs to overcome their impairments.
These limitations adversely affect the physical cognitive and sensory development of a child to varying degrees.
Wanda said: “A child’s health and wellbeing can be influenced by a range of factors; for example, body structure and function; daily activities of personal care; school activities and physical issues. These new wheelchairs coupled with ongoing physio therapies will assist with all of these needs.”
Wanda also thanked Conrad Algarve for “pulling all the strings to create a glamorous and glitzy ambience”.
“All who attended raved about the five-course meal. The Executive Chef Osvalde Silva really outdid himself. The meal was simply superb, inspired by Portugal’s culinary heritage. The entire Conrad team demonstrated a level of hospitality which was second to none,” said the ACCA president.
“DJ Grace of Monaco created a buzz of smooth sounds during dinner and jazzy tunes for dancing after the meal. There were Portuguese dancers who also provided entertainment before and after the meal. Singer Joana Lobo Anta has a very soulful yet jazzy sound, which everyone related to and throughout the evening we enjoyed violinist Ricardo Maciel who added a bit of flare to the traditional sound of the violin,” Wanda added.
“On behalf of ACCA, we want to thank all who attended and the sponsors who donated auction prizes,” she said.
“We also want to thank the Conrad General Manager Katharina Schlaipfer and the entire team at the hotel for their continued support. A special thanks to Atelier do Sul for always being so incredibly generous, Letra 7 and the Open Media Group for the amazing coverage of the event.
“A warm thank you to Melaura Parker for always giving a helping hand with this very glamorous Gala. Also, thanks to the ACCA team members who assisted with the auction. Hats off to auctioneer Vincent Cosgrove for helping to raise a great amount of funds. It’s amazing what can be achieved when a community comes together.”
