ACCA seeks members

news: ACCA seeks members

Over the past four years, the ACCA, a charity supporting children in need in the Algarve, has worked with most of the local orphanages and institutions, poor families, gypsy children, schools, disabled youngsters and kids from dysfunctional families.

All the volunteers involved with the ACCA have not only helped raise considerable sums of money for individuals, groups and homes, but they have also given their time to host parties, visit the cinema, hold football matches and generally meet, play and chat with kids who need lots of love.

Now, the ACCA really needs your help. As a legally registered Portuguese charity, the ACCA is gearing up to its first AGM and, by law, needs more members. As a member, you don’t have to volunteer to do anything, just make a small regular donation of 20 euros per month and vote at the AGM for motions the committee, or you yourself, wish to raise. The money you donate will all go directly to the children and, as a transparent organisation, you can ask to see exactly where the cash goes.

The ACCA is holding three membership drives where you can turn up, hear all about the charity, in Portuguese and English, and have all your questions answered, without any commitment on your part. Each membership cocktail party begins at 6.30pm and will finish at 7.30pm. They are being held as follows:

Tuesday October 26: Vila Galé Hotel, Rua 4 de Outubro, Tavira

Wednesday October 27: Barringtons Golf & Health Spa, Vale do Lobo, Almancil

Thursday October 28: Hotel Garbe, Armação de Pêra.

Please come along with your family and friends, enjoy a glass of wine or two, and find out more about children in need in the Algarve.
