ABC to offer free Covid-19 antigen tests in five Algarve towns

At a time when citizens all over Portugal are scrambling for Covid-19 tests ahead of the peak holiday season, the Algarve Biomedical Center (ABC) has announced it is providing free Covid-19 antigen tests at Estádio do Algarve on the border between Faro and Loulé and in Albufeira.

Three more towns in the Algarve – Lagos, Portimão and Tavira – are due to join the scheme very soon.

The goal is to increase the region’s testing capacity and allow people to get tested before Christmas and New Year.

The testing site at Estádio do Algarve is open every day from 11am to 2pm, while the testing centre in Albufeira is located in front of the town hall and is open Monday through Thursday from 4pm to 7pm and Friday through Sunday from 9am to midday.

The tests can be booked online on ABC’s website (click here).

These new testing sites are expected to remain open until at least April.

Meanwhile, pharmacies in Portugal have also revealed plans to open up more spaces for free Covid-19 tests before Christmas (click here).
