A wealth of Christmas and New Year activities in Lagoa

THERE ARE Christmas lights, exhibitions, music and lots more to enjoy in Lagoa until January 8.

In order to celebrate the festive season, Lagoa council is promoting a range of activities for the enjoyment of people of all ages, but with a special focus on children and the elderly. The local shopping areas are lit up with Christmas lights and the council has been promoting a campaign with the slogan, “This Christmastime, shop locally”.  

Until January 8, visitors to Lagoa’s market can see an exhibition of nativity scenes in clay. This is the 16th exhibition of its kind to take place in the town. A photography exhibition of local buildings is running until January 7 at the municipal auditorium. Meanwhile, more than 50 creations by local artisans are on display in Lagoa’s streets.

New Year concert

A performance by the Silver Strings of St. Petersburg, one of the oldest groups in Russia, is scheduled to take place on January 4, at the municipal auditorium, at 9.30pm. The orchestra’s repertoire is diverse and includes pieces of classical music as well as modern adaptations and folk melodies.
