BUSINESS WAS brisk when Martin Sirovs launched his new book, The Cascais-Sintra Area – A Walker’s Guide, at Buchanan’s bar in Cascais last week.
The 320-page book, which contains 365 photographs and 40 suggested walks, is an amazingly detailed exposition of the area’s geography, geology and archaeology, together with maps of the region.
Martin said the book, which he described as “a retirement hobby”, arose because he had spotted a hole in the market. “I’m a very keen walker myself. I couldn’t find any maps anywhere, so I started making my own maps and it snowballed from there, as I became interested in the area’s geography, architecture and history,” he said.
The guide has all the information any keen walker would require – and much more besides. Copies are available at 25 euros and can be obtained directly from Martin Sirovs at the following e-mail address: [email protected]
