Rotary Club Estoi Palace International recently enjoyed a visit from members of the Albufeira Wheelchair Basketball team.
The team were represented by player Tom Smith, who gave Rotary members a look into what disappointments and triumphs his team have experienced, including their difficult withdrawal from the Portuguese Wheelchair Basketball Cup, due to insufficient support.
Tom also went on to explain how the game works and how support from Clube de Basquete de Albufeira (CBA) has allowed them to begin recovering their competitiveness again. Inspired by the team’s positive attitude and determination to not let their disability prevent them taking part in sport, Rotary Club President Bill Mahoney said: “It is planned that club members will attend a game in the near future and consider ways that they can help the team realise their full potential.
