The Algarve Senior Bikers (ASB) ride postponed for a week due to the recent bad weather finally got underway from Silves on March 22. It was led and organised by Alain Balouzet and John Redding.
“Unfortunately the ride had to be shortened due to a delay caused when regular rider John Heffernan decided to take a closer look at some loose gravel and slid off at slow speed and received a couple of broken ribs for his trouble. His passenger Linda escaped with just a few bumps and bruises. Thanks go to all those who gave assistance,” said group organiser David Shirley.
“ASB friends wish John a speedy recovery and hope to see him next time. This was the first time since the group started seven years ago that there has been a incident of this nature.”
After the delay, the riders continued via São Marcos and Monchique for lunch at restaurant O Maximino on the road down to Portimão.
The next ride will be on Friday, April 21. Meeting point is in São Brás de Alportel for a ride through the Eastern Algarve to Odeleite.
