A treat from Holland

THE AMSTERDAM Chamber Group will be in the Algarve next month at the invitation of the Amigos do Museu do Trajo de São Brás de Alportel.

During their tour of the region, which will take place from May 15 to May 22, they will be performing at least three concerts: on May 16 (private concert), May 18 (Vila Sol in Vilamoura) and May 19 in São Brás Museum at 8.30pm. The theme for this tour will be Amor: love for music – music for love, which features music by Corelli, Scarlatti, Mozart, Elgar, Brahms, Ravel and Bizet.

Adventurous

The Amsterdam Chamber Group was founded in 2005 by a group of young, enthusiastic Dutch musicians. Members of the group play freelance in various Dutch symphony orchestras and ensembles. The goal of this professional chamber music group is to present high quality music of a varied classical repertoire to a broad public.

They perform compositions from different countries in original and exciting combinations. A central theme gives structure to this musical diversity: this theme gives rise to a special exchange between the pieces of music.

A member of the group introduces each piece by means of a short historical introduction to establish musical connections. The flexible combinations, varying from string or flute quartet to a concert aria with mezzo soprano and full ensemble, contribute to the adventurous character of the performance.

Organisers are delighted to have received financial support for this tour from the Dutch Embassy.
