Belinda Waite, from Bampton, Devon, had been into her local hospital numerous times in the past nine months and says she was told she had a severe case of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and gout.
In fact, she was not sick but pregnant and her healthy baby girl arrived a month ago.
“You read about these stories in magazines but you never think they happen to real people and I certainly never thought it would happen to me. It was obviously a huge shock but you have to get on with these things and I am really enjoying it,” said Miss Waite.
On February 6, the night before the baby born, Miss Waite went again to hospital with pains throughout her body.
The doctors confirmed she was three months pregnant, but in fact she was nine months pregnant and the baby arrived four and a half hours later.
Miss Waite said: “I was really shocked. I don’t think Wayne (her partner) could believe it was happening. We hardly had time to think about it. No one believed us when we told them we suddenly had a child.”
