Owned and managed by Portuguese families, the Lisbon Heritage Hotels open the doors of the old houses and historic buildings where they are set up, revealing Lisbon and its people in every nook and cranny. Everything has been designed to emphasise the link to the city and nothing was left to chance.
Let’s begin our journey at the As Janelas Verdes. Its discreet presence on the street with the same name is full of surprises revealed in spaces like the library terrace, or the interior garden. Here you’ll lose track of time.
Right in the heart of the city, the 18th century building that is now the Heritage Avenida da Liberdade Hotel bears the hallmark of the distinguished Miguel Câncio Martins. Here the city shows its face in a unique atmosphere where poetry and people have their place.
We move on to the art-deco charm of the Hotel Britania. Part of a project by Cassiano Branco, the illustrious modernist Portuguese architect, the hotel evokes the glamour of the 1940’s.
At the Hotel Lisboa Plaza the decoration recreates the happiness of the elegant Portuguese houses, as a prelude to a seductive Lisbon. And finally, sharing its walls with the São Jorge Castle is the Solar do Castelo. This irreproachable recovery of the former Palacete das Cozinhas has been design by the Graça Viterbo Studio, crossing medieval references and contemporary objects.
Tradition and modernity combined in a precious collection of small boutique hotels in Lisbon’s old town, requiring a mandatory visit.
