A personal appeal from the Gerry and Kate McCann

The waiting journalists were told by the Consul that their statement would be short and that there would be no questions after.

As they emerged, it was obvious the amount of stress and emotion both parents were feeling. They both looked to be still in a shocked state. Madeleine’s mother, Kate looked tired and drawn -her eyes did not leave the ground while clutching a child’s pink toy while her husband read the prepared statement. She simply could not look at all the cameras and reporters.

Gerry McCall spoke with a shaky voice, taking breaths to stave off the obvious tears of sadness and concern. He looked desperate.

“Words cannot describe the anguish and despair that we are feeling as the parents of our beautiful daughter Madeleine. We request that anyone that has any information about Madeleine’s disappearance to contact the Portuguese police immediately. Please if you have Madeleine, let her come home to her mummy, daddy, her brother and sister.”
