A night to remember at Bela Romão

Members and guests enjoyed an evening of food and music at the Bela Romão Croquet Country Club, overlooking the beaches near Fuseta, for the Last Night of the Proms.

With the music and pictures being beamed live from London and a banquet prepared by Chef Sarah Byrnes, the evening proved to be a great success.

From October 3 to 8, the Bela Romão Croquet Club will host the Portugal Open in singles and doubles with top players from far and wide challenging for the coveted awards.

Lita Gale, proprietor and founder of the Portuguese Croquet Federation, said: “Catherine of Braganza did more than refine the custom of tea drinking in England. After marrying King Charles II, and upon his return from Exile in France, they enjoyed greatly the game of ‘palle malle’ and, amongst other great feats, Queen Catarina also enlightened her ranks of nobility in Portugal on how to play croquet…and so we have completed the circle.”
