A nice rosé and an Arinto white from the Lisbon coast

I first wrote about Quinta da Boa Esperança last year when I discovered their very good Syrah red but had yet to try anything else from this producer until now.

But with this rosé and white both on special offer this week (until March 27) at Apolónia, they caught my eye.

Normally priced at €7.99 and €11.95, respectively, and now reduced by 20%, these are both solid examples of the high quality we can expect from the cool climate terroir of the Atlantic coast to the north of Lisbon.

The rosé is an intensely fresh wine with notes of strawberry and especially fresh cherries on the nose, lightly textured and smooth in the mouth with a medium dry finish.

The Arinto white is a more serious wine but also makes for very easy drinking. This is an unoaked wine presenting a pale straw colour in the glass with subtle tropical fruit notes on the nose leading to a full flavour in the mouth and solid acidity. Overall, very well balanced with a long and fruity finish.
