A new view of Albufeira with City Sightseeing

See Albufeira from a new perspective with an open top sightseeing trip around the city.

Douro Acima, a national and international transport operator, is running the open top buses through Albufeira as part of their national network of sightseeing tours.

In August 2006, the company took over the representation of the City Sightseeing brand in Portugal and have since developed this to offer tours in Porto, Aveiro, Lisbon and Funchal in Madeira.

Albufeira is the latest destination to offer the open top buses.  A spokesman for Douro Acima said: “We have decided to expand our brand to the Algarve with the first new route operating in Albufeira.  The trips provide information in eight languages (English, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Dutch and Russian) and run from this month.”

The service is a hop on, hop off tour lasting 90 minutes with users able to get on and off where they like for the duration of the ticket. The service begins next to the Hotel Paraíso Albufeira on Rua do Munícipio and passes Santa Eulália, Oura, Inatel, Praia dos Pescadores, Salgados, Galé, the marina and the old town.

Between April and October the bus runs every 30 minutes from 9.30am until 7pm and between November and March it leaves every hour.  A special night sightseeing tour  also takes place between July 15 and August 15 with tours available every hour between 8pm and 11pm.

Tickets cost from €13 for a 24 hour adult ticket and €6.50 for a 24 hour child’s ticket.
