Quintas de Melgaço (QM) is a producer in the Vinho Verde region recognised for producing high quality Alvarinho varietals which usually cost a couple of euros less than the big name producers and represent excellent value for money. Look out for their standard white Alvarinho which at around €7 punches well above its weight. But their most recent launch is this rosé made from a blend of Alvarinho with the local red grape Sousão and costing €9.99 at Apolonia, also representing good value for money.
This is an extremely dry but very well balanced rosé, pale salmon pink in colour with light red fruit, citric and herbal notes on the nose, lively acidity and a lovely clean finish.
