The game of golf plays a major part of life in the Algarve and throughout Portugal. With its popularity increasing, and technology playing a greater role, you would expect golfers to be improving all over the golfing globe – but guess what… they aren’t!
For more than 40 years the average handicap has not improved. Golf clubs now send the ball further. The modern golf ball flies straighter. Technology means you can now see your swing form every conceivable angle to show you what you are doing ‘wrong’ and still the average handicap has not improved.
However, there is now a ‘new’ approach to golf, developed by PGA Golf Professional, Tony Westwood, who has joined forces with Pestana and Nevada Bob’s Golf, based at the Pestana Alto Golf in Alvor where golfers of all ages and abilities are invited to visit and explore the secrets of their golf. This approach is guaranteed to help you understand what you need to do to improve.
How does it work?
The answer is quite simple. You need the facts or the truths about your golf. There have been more than 9,000 golf books written about the game and with so much information available, how do you find what works for you? Tony will help you to explore and to discover what you need to do to improve your game, in an environment where fun and enjoyment will enhance your learning.
It’s time to make golf a simple game again, where the aim is to get a small ball into a series of small holes using sticks or clubs. And that’s it!
“This is a golf learning experience like no other and you will improve by exploring what you need to do physically, technically and, the most important, mentally”, says Tony.
Throughout April, Tony is hosting a series of ‘Taster Sessions’ so golfers can go and see what it is all about. The sessions will be interactive and will get you thinking differently about your game.
