With news concentrating now on every message possible to promote World Youth Day in Lisbon next week – even the Pope encouraging pilgrims to ‘make the trip’ – we hear that a million communion wafers have been prepared by the Poor Clare Sisters of the Monastery of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, in Estrela, Lisbon. Two tonnes of Alentejo wheat, donated by the National Association of Producers of Proteins, Oilseeds and Cereals (ANPOC), together with Germen – Moagem de Cereais, were used to make these million wafers.
