A magical evening of art, music and philanthropy

A “glamorous evening of art, music and philanthropy” is being held in April in Quinta do Lago by the newly-founded association Healthy Minds Algarve Association (HMAA). Its first charity event will be The Secret Garden Ball, which will take place on Friday, April 13 at Bovino Steakhouse.

Founded by an international group of Algarve residents “whose goal is to create a healthy social environment and promote emotional wellbeing in young people”, the non-profit association is hosting the charity gala dinner evening featuring music, art, special performances, an auction and a prize draw.

Striving to make a difference in the local community, HMAA and the Secret Garden Ball are “all about bringing a bit of magic into our children’s lives”, says co-founder and HMAA member Kelly Murtagh.

The association aims to promote a healthy lifestyle for children and youngsters by implementing a programme entitled SEED, which is designed to nurture social interaction.

SEED is targeted at both parents and children and is based on four key aspects – Social, Educational, Entrepreneurial and Development (Personal). By supporting and hosting a series of seminars, workshops, extracurricular activities and supporting existing clubs across the Algarve, HMAA aims to advocate a healthier lifestyle for children, helping them cope with the challenges of the digital era, and opening new doors for youngsters living in the Algarve.

“A combination of live music – courtesy of the quirky Jerry Fish and the Mudbug Club -, stunning artworks, a gala dinner, and a midnight dance party will enliven this glamourous evening and raise funds for a much-needed new chapter for local youngsters,” say organisers.

The evening will be black tie, “with a twist”, and a prize will be given to the most creative addition to this classic dress code.

Some well-established professionals are already rolling up their sleeves to help stage this fantastic event: Christie’s trained auctioneer Laurien Schroeder-Hessels will take the reins of the live auction, while the Swiss banker Thomas Kottman will MC the night. The production will be carried out by James Iyengar of Moonlite productions, who has worked with the likes of Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd and Lionel Richie.

Tickets to the event cost €200 per person. You can also purchase a round table of 10 (ideal for businesses).

Also available are several sponsorship options.
