A kick in the grass

Kicking a football around a golf course requires skill and precision as much as a hefty boot down the fairway. And so it proved as seven teams battled in the monthly competition at the Colina Verde Golf Course, Maragota, last week.

The well-watered greens and longer grass in the rough presented a new challenge for the 28 competitors.

Visitor Joshua Wreford from Exeter recorded a superb round of 44 (two above par) for the 12-hole course, to take the individual award. “This was my first time and although skeptical about the idea of FootGolf, I found it an exhilarating experience,” said the 24-year-old Devonian.

The winning team of Chris Wood, Frank Conn, Kai Diprose and Peter Diprose will find the going a bit tougher next month when a handicap system will be introduced. The next event is on Wednesday, October 21.
