Jimmy Tarbuck’s Golf Classic charity tournament has come round again and, as always, boasts an impressive list of sports and television personalities. The event will be held from February 7 to February 14, with the Dona Filipa Hotel and São Lourenço Golf Course in the Algarve playing hosts once again. A total of 20 teams will compete, each comprised of one celebrity and three amateurs.
From the sports world, we can look forward to witnessing the golfing talents of former heavyweight champion Henry Cooper, football commentator Jimmy Hill and ex-Liverpool manager Roy Evans, plus many more. As well as personalities from the sports world, actors Dennis Waterman, Mike Reid, James Bolam and comedian Jasper Carrot will be donning their plus fours and exercising their skills on the green.
The aim of the event is to raise much-needed funds for the Refúgio Aboim Ascenção children’s home. Over the last two years the tournament has raised in excess of £30,000 for the Faro-based shelter. Members of the public are encouraged to come along and watch the tournament free of charge to spur the celebrities on in their game.
