The Algarve Cup is a global invitation tournament for national teams in women’s football.
Held annually in the Algarve since 1994, it is one of the most prestigious women’s football events demonstrating a high level of professional skill.
The United States will start their defence of the title, which they have won seven times in the last nine years, next Wednesday, February 29 against Denmark in Lagos.
On March 5 the USA and Japan will meet for the first time since the 2011 Women’s World Cup Final, which Japan won on penalties after extra-time.
