A cultural exchange tribute

A new exhibition entitled ‘A Tribute to Cultural Exchange’ was opened at the Gallery Arte Algarve in Lagoa on Tuesday (September 4) and is now open to the public until September 29.

The cultural display is an array of pieces by artists from many different countries such as the United States, France, Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Egypt, Spain, Greece, Mexico, Netherlands, Poland and more.

All artists involved have special connections with Portugal and have produced work inspired by these connections.

Of the artists involved, internationally known French/American master bronze portrait sculptor, Martine Vaugel, will have her work featured at the exhibition.

Martine’s work expresses her love affair with the human spirit through art, and she is the creator of hundreds of small to medium size bronze statues.

Her sculptures can also be found in Japan’s Hakone Open Air Museum, The Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, The Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art and the Rockefeller Collection.

Notably her works also feature in the collections of past American Presidents Bush, Regan and Carter plus Sir Richard Attenborough, Mother Teresa, and many other notable celebrities from around the world.
