A Christmas cracker

More than 6,000 Euros was raised by members of the Angels Theatre Group after three performances of their latest Music Hall Revue held on October 28, 29 and 30.

The money will be donated to Centre Algarve in Moncarapacho, a holiday centre for people with special needs which is currently being redeveloped from an old holiday complex into a specialist centre.

The proceeds will also benefit the São Brás museum, where the performances took place.

All three shows were sell-outs, with audiences enjoying the show, a steak pudding supper and a raffle.

Those who attended the October 30 performance were able to watch Edison Verbisk playing his violin in a guest appearance, followed by Catherine Harmann, who led the Scottish-themed finale into the Gallery by playing the bagpipes.

The next project for the theatre group which raises funds for charity is the Christmas Cracker Show, which will be performed once at the Holiday Inn Algarve in Armação de Pêra on December 4 and money raised during this special performance will also be donated to Centre Algarve.

The Christmas Cracker Show will feature the Salvation Army Band, a guest appearance from Suzanne and Victor from the Jeffries Theatre Company and the Algarve Junior Song and Dance Group, while the Angels will be contributing with comedy sketches and poems.

Audience participation is again encouraged with sing-a-long Christmas carols for everyone to take part in while those arriving in a Christmas hat will be rewarded with a free ticket for the raffle.

Tickets for the Christmas Cracker Show, priced at 29 Euros per person, are on sale now and are available to buy from the Joro shop in Almancil.

The ticket price includes entry to the show, a carol song sheet and a full festive buffet including wine.
