This week has seen most bowls clubs along the Algarve hosting visiting teams, from many different parts of the United Kingdom.
All visiting teams expressed their appreciation and gratitude to their hosts for giving up their time and energy to ensure they had an enjoyable bowling holiday, with many promising to return next year.
These visiting team games are always a great deal of fun, as they are played in high spirits, with much laughter and joking. Whilst both sides always play to win, games always end with drinks after the match for everyone to relax and recover.
Of course, all Bowls Algarve Clubs are also ‘gearing up’ for the start of the league at the end of October, and the Inter-Club competitions, many of which are already scheduled.
The visiting teams give Algarve bowlers a chance to return to match fitness after the excesses of the summer.
The league this year is split into two divisions, with all the clubs having at least one team in the top division. Each club will play seven games before Christmas and seven games after Christmas, taking the league season to the end of February. The first competitive match begins with the Super 10’s on Thursday, October 26, with the league matches following on Saturday October 28, and the Cameron Cup beginning on Tuesday, November 21.
