900 jobs at risk at Autoeuropa due to semi-conductor shortage

900 jobs are at risk at Palmela’s Autoeuropa car manufacturing plant due to the ongoing global shortage of semiconductor chips (click here). The plant has predicted that 2022 will see roughly 53,000 fewer vehicles come off the production line. This in itself could cancel the need for a ‘4th shift’ in which the 900 people are employed.
