Dear Editor,
I am a homeowner in Boliqueime and am a non-resident.
We previously owned a home in Olhos de Água and have enjoyed summers in Portugal in our own homes for the last 15 years.
This is the first year we have been unable to spend unrestricted time in our own homes and contribute to the hospitality economy although we still have to pay full land taxes, electricity, maintenance etc despite being absent.
We would support any approach to address this matter to enable us to have what we originally paid for.
This is even more galling when EU citizens can spend six months continuous in the UK without a reciprocal agreement.
