8th Open Door bigger and better

In its biggest and best event to date, Quinta dos Vales welcomed around 3,000 people to its 8th Open Door, which took place at the Estombar wine and art estate on Sunday, April 7.

Having established itself as a staple on the Algarve’s events calendar, the eighth edition of the event saw a record-breaking number of visitors walk through the estate’s gates.

From 11am until 7pm visitors enjoyed a wide range of activities and were able to sample a number of tasty treats, amongst which were Quinta dos Vales’ own award-winning wines. In fact, the event was the perfect setting for the launch of the estate’s 2012 wines, with six white and rosés released under the Marquês dos Vales label.

As usual, Quinta dos Vales played host to various exhibitors, who brought everything from delicious local delicacies and sweet treats to beautiful jewellery and handicraft.

In a first for the estate, the event offered activities from the Archery Club and special massages, whilst the live entertainment proved more extensive than ever before. With show cooking from Catering Bon Bon and Sushi Yama, there was also plenty of live music to liven up proceedings.

The beautiful horses from Real Picadeiro and a special ‘taxi’ tuk-tuk completed the line-up, ensuring the 8th Open Door was a complete success for the entire family yet again.

Estate owner Karl Heinz Stock decided to make his sculptures more affordable during the Open Door, introducing discounts of between 35% and 50% on the sculptures’ current prices. Feedback was so positive that these discounts will continue until further notice. Cristina Alcock
