87 doctors resign ‘en masse’ from Setúbal hospital centre

In yet another show of discontent by the medical profession as the government lays out its spending plans for 2022, 87 doctors have resigned ‘en masse’ from the Centro Hospitalar de Setúbal. Their stand follows the resignation last week of clinical director Nuno Fachada, citing what he termed the ‘asphyxia and paratisation of the health service’ (click here), and the resignation in August of director of Obstetrics Pinto de Almeida, citing “imminent rupture” of the service. Serious issues within the SNS health service have been hitting the headlines since September (click here).
