692 weather incidents sparked by Saturday night’s bad weather across Portugal

Authorities logged 692 incidents due to bad weather last night, as the Lisbon/ Setúbal/ Leiria areas were particularly affected.  Cascais was hit by levels of rainfall “unseen since the floods of 1983”. Incidents included 321 floodings, 111 ‘collapses of structures’, 124 trees falling (in one case over railway lines) and 32 ‘issues in the public highway’. There were no reports of people being injured as “the great majority of situations involved damage to buildings and vehicles, as well as floods” said a source for Civil Protection.
