4th ACCA Health Run a success

INITIALLY RAINED off for the third year running, the fourth Health Run organised by the Associação de Solidariedade com as Crianças Carenciadas do Algarve (ACCA) took place the following week, raising an amazing 3,800 euros.

António Pina, the Civil Governor of Faro, himself a regular runner, joined in the Health Run for the first time, adding a generous donation to ACCA on the day. The 80 participants in both the 10km run and the 5km walk enjoyed a beautiful day round the lake at Quinta do Lago.

Winner of the ladies’ 10km run was Wendy Tarantino and the men’s 10km run was Tim Fortuin. Winners of the 5km walk were Brian Rodgers and Jorge Estevens. The children’s prize was won by Nicolas Holmström Forster.

Money raised on the day is going to pay crèche bills for two-year-old Rodrigo Almeida who has Down’s Syndrome. Often unwell, life is, inevitably, disruptive for his parents. Being able to attend crèche will provide him and his parents much needed additional support.

ACCA raises money to help underprivileged children across the Algarve. If you would like to know more about the association’s work and receive regular updates, e-mail [email protected]
