Golfers from across the region took part in the second tournament of the Starwood Charity Golf Tour which took place at the Sheraton Algarve near Albufeira on the Pine Cliffs Golf Course on August 21.
On the day, 36 players took to the greens and fairways in the tournament which is part of the 4 Events, 1 Cause initiative organised by Starwood Hotels to raise funds for the United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF.
Ben McCarthy was the men’s winner with 42 points while Jane Wood took the women’s prize with 31 points.
But it was nine year old Martin Baptist, who finished with a score of 32 and in the middle of the field, who created the greatest stir on the course as he displayed impressive skills for such a young player.
The next event will see the tour moving north to the Sheraton Porto with a competition on the Estela Golf Course on September 24.
Entry to the tournament costs 60 Euros per player for each stage and includes a round of golf and lunch after the competition.
