More than 38,000 pensioners have lost a vital subsidy created for those over the age of 66 with limited financial resources. According to data supplied by the Social Security institute, women are the biggest losers as “solidarity complement” goes in general to almost three times the number of women as it does to men. The latest cut comes after reductions in 2012. If considered using data from 2011, Público newspaper points out that over 46,000 people have lost their “solidarity complement”.
