At least 33 people were injured this morning when a trans-Tejo passenger boat misjudged its mooring at Lisbon’s Terreiro do Paço and careered into the landing dock.
Medical teams rushed to the scene as police set up a safety perimeter.
The accident happened shortly after 8.30am, and according to Rádio Renascença, the majority of injuries are fractures.
No-one is thought to be badly hurt, but news is still being updated.
Early reports suggest the Antero de Quental catamaran misjudged its ‘landing’ from the other side of the river at Barreiro due to thick early morning fog.
The boat has a capacity for 600 people, and is one of many that ferry commuters in and out of the capital every day.
